Looming: IJAWS Political class threatens Showdown with President Tinubu over Fubara reinstatement.
The Ijaws political class has threatened a showdown with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if governor Similaye Fubara is not reinstated. The Ijaws have riased concerns over the intended extension of Ibas sole administratorship in Rivers state. Stating that his removal was unconstitutional in the first place. The push to extend the emergency rule in Rivers State must not be given attention by Mr president, if he wants to continue enjoying the patronage of the Ijaws nation.
Although, there is an unconfirmed report that Mr President is not aligned with the porported plans to seek for extension, however this is just a way of letting Mr president Bola Tinubu knows that we will resist it.
Corectnaijagist.blogspot.com, learnt that the porported extension of emergency rule collapsed after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd.), to submit a comprehensive handover note ahead of the expiration of his tenure.
The directive came after a high-stakes meeting on Wednesday night, which ended attempts by powerful forces in the National Assembly to secure a three-week extension that would have allowed Ibas to remain in office beyond the scheduled transition date.
According to sources, President Tinubu’s has orederd Ibas to present a detailed handover note, covering inherited funds, accrued revenues, expenditures, and ongoing projects before stepping aside.
We hope that this development clears the path for the anticipated return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers State House of Assembly on September 18, 2025, marking the end of months of emergency rule in the state, the ijaw political class stated.
This emergency rule, declared on March 18, 2025, will officially end six months later on September 18, 2025 and has shortchanged the Ijaws tenure by a whole six months. We are hoping that this will be corrected by Mr President.
